Welcome to the Stowe Yacht Club
Stowe Yacht Club is dedicated to the art and passion of model yacht building and sailing. One of our goals is to promote the sport of Remote Control sailing. The public is always welcome and encouraged to visit the pond during either of our regular race days. For more information, go to our “About Us” page. We have also added a link to an article about the origins and history on the Club accessible from the "About Us" page.
2024 Sailing Season :
The season started off slowly with a limited number of skippers and weather that wasn’t always cooperative. As skippers returned and, with the influx of some new members, our racing numbers are between 7 and 12 boats on the water. We'd like to welcome our 2 newest members Will Buchan and Michael Sturges who have both purchased existing boats, one from our Club Boatyard page. This is very welcoming and encouraging in our small club. As of 10/30, the season has come to an end. We’ve seen some great results from a variety of skippers. It’s nice to see new faces on the podium. With this new energy in the club, we are looking forward to planning our 2025 program. We will be holding several Winter meetings to discuss plans for a sucessful season next year. We are trying to expand our program by offering loaner boats to anyone who wants to try their hand at remote control sailing and will be trying to get the word out to surrounding communities.

Club Sailing and Racing Information:
The 2024 Season had good attendence for the most part with numbers fairly consistent around 8 skippers for each sailing day. It seems that our biggest callenge this year is dealing with what Mother Nature has given us for weather. The season went through October but, when the chilly breezes made it hard on the hands/thumbs and "toques" became the norm, the season quickly came to an end.
For all racing results and season standings go to our "Club Racing" tab.
2025 SYC Annual Dues:
Membership dues to Stowe Yacht Club will be renewable online starting 12/15/24. To renew Click Here
We encourage all SYC members to also support the AMYA by becoming a member Click Here
The AMYA is very supportive of all the clubs and helps with some of our major regattas.
Club News:
Our club isn't all about Mon. and Wed. Soling racing. As noted above, our club takes great pride in hosting the annual, Green Mountain and the CanAm Challenge Regattas. It takes many people to manage these events. We encourage all sailors to get involved on the management side of things as we can always use extra help to carry out successful regattas and as a bonus, by learning what goes into managing a regatta and observing other competitors, can help sailors improve their own perspective of the racing experience.
Thank You to the regular club members who are reliable every year, to help keep our pond and facilities in great condition. Special thanks to Bruce and his staff for the exceptional maintenance of the grounds and the hospitality of this venue and its great location for the club members to use for our enjoyment.
