2024 CanAm Regatta Results
By: Bernie Peine
Stowe Yacht Club hosted the CanAm Regatta this year on August 3rd and 4th. The first day of racing started on Saturday with 17 Soling1M sailboats completing 10 races, taking a break after every 3 races due to the unusal high humidity. Due to a lack of wind, the starting was delayed until almost 11:00 am. Saturday's weather was very hot, mostly sunshine, with light winds and temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Over the two days, the skippers completed a total of 18 races. There were hardly any issues, and only a few troubles affected a couple of boats. Sunday's weather was also very hot with high humidity and not as much sunshine, light winds and temperatures in the upper 80ss.
Don Ouimette finished the regatta in 1st place with 25 points and 9 bullets out of the 18 races. He was followed by Jim Goddard with 51 points and 1 bullet. The complete summary follows.
